Care Instructions For Clothing Labels

By Flora Vinson

It is important when caring for clothing items to read clothing labels. This is where one will find what materials the clothing is made out of, how to clean it, and the best ways to care for it overall.

Many items have special care instructions; this often includes hang drying and dry clean only. Many people have torn or faded clothes by not taking them to the dry cleaner and attempting to wash them in the washer and dryer. It is a good idea to follow these things pretty well.

Some items, such as dark colors and more fragile fabrics, need to be washed in cold water only. Some of these will also need to be air dried or dried on a low setting. If it says to wash in warm or hot water, then that item is often lighter in color or most likely white. It will also usually be made out of a material that has less shrinkage possibilities.

After learning what these labels mean, and practicing carefully when washing and drying, then the tag instructions will be remembered and better understood. The items that have previously been washed correctly will not need to be studied over and over.

Many people disregard reading these instructions and then inadvertently ruin their clothes. This is especially true for smaller, more fragile items. Dryer care instructions are important also. These help prevent shrinkage and other damage. Washer and dryer instructions help the clothing item last longer and look better.

Everyone needs to read clothing labels in order to insure the best care for all of their fashions. Looking good means feeling good. Fresh, clean, and like new clothes make one stand prouder. It also saves time, money and hassle. This is very important in today's unsure economic times. Taking the time to read these items can help the mundane task of washing.
