How To Be Saved By Jesus: A Practical Guide

By Dianne Crane

Dissimilar to what certain individuals think, good works will not earn salvation for any man or woman. Rather, salvation is a gift to the human race from God the Father. If anyone is perplexed about how to be saved by Jesus, they will be happy to discover that all persons qualify for this gift, regardless of their race, background, social status, level of education, or gender.

Everyone is equal from God's point of view. There is no person who is beyond the need for salvation, and nobody is too unworthy to receive this salvation. In the book of Romans, which is located in the New Testament section of the Bible, a passage states that everyone has sinned and fallen short of God's glory. Later in the same chapter there is a verse that indicates that death is ultimately the punishment for all sin. It goes on to say, however, that eternal life is God's gift to man and those who accept this gift will spend eternity in heaven.

According to the Bible, Jesus came to earth as the Messiah in order to lay down his life to pay for the sins of the human race. This was a price that no human being could ever have paid. Once this took place, man's relationship with the Heavenly Father was restored. The steps below are those which must be followed in order for one to be saved:

The initial step a person must take is to admit to a sinful nature. This means confessing that he or she has done or said things that are against Bible tenets or morally wrong. The man or women does not have to name each sin individually, rather the person must simply say, "I confess that I am guilty of sinning".

The next step is to repent. This involves stating that one is sorry for the sins that he or she has committed. It is important to be genuine when repenting. God knows whether or not individuals are truly sorry in their hearts, and he is the only one who can judge a person's heart.

After repentance is the need to confess one's belief in the Holy Trinity. The person must also believe that Jesus' death and resurrection was a reality and that he is now in heaven with the Father. The final confession the person must make is that Jesus Christ is God's own son.

It is important to understand that salvation is based on the teachings of the Bible. Therefore, it does not matter how many sins one has committed in his or her former life. Whoever accepts their Savior and follows the steps outlined above is cleansed from their sins regardless of how long they sinned or the type of sins in which they indulged.

Individuals are reborn spiritually into the family of God when they accept the gift of salvation, similar to how a person is born into a human family by his or her parents. This is called the rebirth of spirit or being born again. Above are the few simple steps one must follow regarding how to be saved by Jesus. When these steps are taken one can proceed to live life as a Christian.
