Many Interesting Big Rig Accessories Are Now On The Market

By Noemi Wallner

Some of the trucks seen on the highways each day are company owned and others are owner operated. These vehicles play a major part in moving needed food and other materials across the country's highways. There are excellent big rig accessories for these vehicles, at Electric Service San Jose, CA locations.

A new item, which is being enjoyed by many truck drivers, is a software package that easily compiles information that formerly had to be done by hand. This cuts down paperwork as well as errors. Placed on the dashboard, it is easy to determine, for example, the amount due the trucker as well as any deductions. Escrow balances and amounts can also be calculated.

All data and supporting documents are input into the software. This includes things such as drop off and pick up loads, vacation hours earned, miles of travel, rest stops and so forth. It is simple to see this information at a glance by simply looking at a screen mounted on the dash. Currently this device is being installed in both company trucks and their office to assure accurate information.

A theft proof keyless ignition system is being adapted by many truckers. This system has a wired relay system, which is connected to a keypad in the truck's cab. It is wired through the fuel pump, ignition, ECM, or starter circuit of the truck.

In the keyless system, the motor will not start until a certain code is punched into the key pad. It is guaranteed that the motor cannot be started with another key, or by being hot-wired. To enter the cab the driver has a fob to open the door, and then simply pushes the code in the keypad to get started.

A very important new invention that is coming on the market is called Alertness Monitoring Glasses. One of the problems in the trucking industry is a driver falling asleep for various reasons. These glasses are geared to how many times a driver blinks his or her eyes, which will indicate the start of drowsiness. They have an infrared sensor and will set off a loud alarm when it is determined that sleep will occur within half an hour.

In addition to these special items, there are also big rig accessories to spruce up a truck as well as to make the cab more comfortable. Things such as extra chrome, better seating, better cooking arrangements, and hundreds of other things are now on the market. Truckers often spend more time on the road than at home and they need to be comfortable and proud of their rig.
