In March 2012, the city of Kuala Lumpur plays host to the MATTA Fair. Hosted by the Malaysian Association of Travel and Tourism Agents, this exciting event takes place at the Putra World Trade Centre (PWTC), running from 16th to 18th March. This event is bi-annual, and contains exhibitors in great numbers. Around 9000 travellers visited 80 booths at the first show, held in 1991.

It has become one of the most highly anticipated of travel fairs, with the number of booths increasing ten-fold by 2005. Spanning three days, it has earned the title of Malaysia's No. 1 Travel Fair. The fair provides information spanning all sorts of travel needs under the one roof, with many booths containing a huge variety of operators, merchandisers and generally any companies related to the tourist industry.

Visitors from all round the world visit Kuala Lumpur: it is a world class destination. Shopping centres, restaurants, markets, and a variety of night life can be found there. The weather can be tropical and unpredictable, have high temperatures and humidity, and monsoons. Visitors must be duely prepared for the possible eventuation of this weather, so that their experience is not significantly affected.

Trade shows are a great way for travel companies to showcase themselves to a large and responsive audience. They make for great competition amongst the various agencies and companies. They also give the general public a real opportunity to view many options in one location, and receive some highly competitive deals.

For those in the tourism and travel industry worldwide, this trade fair provides a wonderful opportunity for networking. Clients can receive amazing deals, as the vendors have their wares on display. They can also network amongst themselves. This single venue will provide client satisfaction, with holiday packages, resort complexes, and airlines all offering specials. Also included will be great merchandise for sale.

When planning the trip to Malaysia to partake in this event, the discerning traveller must take some things into consideration. It is an intensive three day show, highly anticipated and hugely popular. To avoid disappointment, pre-planning and booking are essential. Travellers should book early, whether in the well-known, international hotels, or the smaller local establishments.

2012 will be the twenty-first anniversary of this spectacular, and is shaping up to be an amazing event. Many people from around the globe are booked and ready to go to this special, world-class event; both professionals and tourists alike. There are some exciting holiday packages for tourists wishing to experience this adventure firsthand, although some are in limited numbers.

Each year sponsors, including airlines, travel agents, resorts and so on, offer some wonderful prize options. There will be a prize to entice every traveller, with honeymoon specials, flights and so forth possible. For tourism and travel professionals from not only the Pacific are, but global operators as well, the MATTA Fair is the place to be. This applies equally to the savvy traveller who can pick up some great adventure deals.
